Estados Unidos pidió al gobierno de Nicaragua que se inicie una investigación por las muertes ocurridas durante las protestas en este país.
Heather Nauret, subsecretaria de Estado para Diplomacia Pública y Asuntos Públicos de Estados Unidos, lamentó la pérdida de al menos 29 personas durante las manifestaciones y condenó la violencia y la fuerza excesiva con la que operan los cuerpos de seguridad nicaragüenses.
“También pedimos al gobierno nicaragüense que permita a los periodistas operar libremente y restablecer toda la cobertura televisiva al aire. Además, instamos al gobierno a que permita una investigación independiente y enjuiciar a los responsables de las muertes”, escribió Heather en Twitter.
La funcionaria solicitó que se inicie un diálogo entre los sectores de la sociedad para resolver el conflicto y restablecer el respeto a los derechos humanos en el país.

The United States calls for a broad-based dialogue involving all sectors of society to resolve the current conflict, restore respect for human rights, and achieve a better, more democratic future for all Nicaraguans.

We also call on the Nicaraguan government to allow journalists to operate freely and restore all television coverage to the air. Additionally, we urge the government to allow an independent investigation and to prosecute those responsible for the deaths.
