Este martes, la Academia de Hollywood anunció a los nominados a la edición 95 de los Premios Oscar. La cinta Everything, Everywhere All at Once, de Daniel Kwan y Daniel Scheinert, encabeza las candidaturas, con 11 postulaciones, entre las que destacan: Mejor Película, Mejor Director y Mejor Actriz.
A la cinta de Apple TV+ le siguen The Banshees of Inisherin, con 9 nominaciones; All Quiet on the Western Front y Elvis, con 8; The Fabelmans, con 7; Top Gun: Maverick y Tár con 6; Pantera negra: Wakanda forever con 5 y Avatar: El camino del agua con 4.
En la categoría de Mejor Película compiten por el premio más importante de la industria del cine All Quiet on the Western Front, Avatar: The Way of Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere all at Once, The Fabelmans, Tár, Top Gun: Maverick, Triangle of Sadness y Women Talking.
En el apartado de Mejor Dirección se verán las caras Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin), Daniel Kwan y Daniel Scheinert (Everything, Everywhere, All at once), Steven Spielberg (The Fabelmans), Todd Field (Tár) y Ruben Östund (Triangle of Sadness).
Spielberg optará por novena vez al Oscar como Mejor Director. Esta nominación llega poco después de haber conseguido el Globo de Oro por su película autobiográfica, que se llevó también el premio a Mejor Filme Dramático.
En la categoría de Mejor Actor compiten Austin Butler (Elvis), Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Pascal Mescal (Aftersun) y Bill Nighy (Living).
Por su parte, Cate Blanchet (Tár), Ana de Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) y Michelle Yeoh (Everything, Everywhere, All at Once) se enfrentarán por la estatuilla de Mejor Actriz.
En el apartado Mejor Actor de Reparto figuran Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inesherin), Brian Tyre Henry (Causeway), Judd Hirsch (The Fabelmans), Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inesherin), Ke Huy Quan (Everything, Everywhere, All at Once); mientras que en el cuadro femenino destacan Angela Basset (Black Panther), Hong Chau (The Wahle), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inesherin), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything, Everywhere, All at once) y Stephanie Cu (Everything, Everywhere, All at once).
En la categoría Mejor Película Extranjera destaca Argentina, 1985, de Santiago Mitre, que compite con All Quiet On The Western Front (Alemania), Close (Bélgica), EO (Polonia), The Quiet Girl (Irlanda).
Recientemente, Argentina, 1985 consiguió el premio a la Mejor Película Internacional de los Globos de Oro y también estuvo nominada en los Critics Choice Awards. En esta oportunidad su gran rival será All Quiet on the Western Front, del alemán Edward Berger, que ha sido la gran sorpresa en estas nominaciones.
Finalmente, en el apartado a Mejor Película Animada compiten Pinocho, de Guillermo del Toro; Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, de Dean Fleischer Camp; Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, de Joel Crawford; The Sea Best, de Chris Williams; y Turning Red, de Domee Shi.
Esta es la primera nominación de Del Toro en esta categoría. Su película fue realizada con técnica de stop motion, en la que reinventa el clásico cuento de Carlo Collodi sobre la marioneta de madera que se convierte en un niño.
La edición 95 de los Oscar tendrá lugar el próximo 12 de marzo en el Teatro Dolby de Los Ángeles, y volverán a tener al comediante Jimmy Kimmel como presentador.
